So, you’re probably asking, who is this miracle worker Mr. D? Affectionately known as that to his students, Dennis DiNoia taught math 13 years in the Florida public school system before starting summer math camps for kids. The camps were so popular that he gave up public teaching in favor of full-time tutoring, which he has been doing now for the past 20 years.

Dennis has personally mentored over 500 underachieving students (aged 6 to 18), raised their math scores by one to three grades, and watched them succeed beyond every adult’s expectations. Some of his students who once hated math have moved into math-centered careers. One of these is Jessica Williams, an architectural project designer working in St. Petersburg, Florida. Here’s what Ms. Williams thinks about the Mr. D Math Program:

"Mr. D was my 7th grade math teacher.  Math was already hard for me but I was able to the confidence and grasp problems that difficult to learn in the regular classroom setting.  In High School I went back to see Mr. D for one-on-one tutoring and he helped me achieve success so much that I was able to bring up my Algebra II math grade by 2 letter grades.  I found the confidence and understanding to pursue my dream career in the Architectural field of design producing construction drawings and designs for buildings.  One of the most important lessons I learned from Mr. D is nothing can hold you back if you work for it.  Had I not met Mr. D and applied what he taught, I know I would not be where I am today.

How can Mr. D Math help your child enjoy and understand math when other programs have failed?
Mr. D explains it like this:

Mr. D - Dennis DiNoia, M.A.Ed

"Math is a language, but it’s rarely taught as that. Kids are taught math functions but not the reasons behind them. So figuring out how to do thought problems, and advancing to higher math functions like percentages and square roots, starts to get more and more difficult.

I make it simple by using the fundamentals of algebra to teach basic math. They still are learning traditional math, but in a more logical context. This not only makes things like subtraction and division really easy to grasp, it provides a strong foundation for genuine algebra later on. Kids learn to think mathematically, instead of performing by meaningless rote. Once they’re shown the concepts, math becomes fun and easy for them."

Kids who always found math hard, “get it” with Mr. D Math Tutorial DVDs. Even if your child hates math and you hate it even more than your child, both of you will relax and chuckle as your frustrating challenges fade with these easy-to-grasp tutorials. Every DVD includes an hour’s worth of roughly 8-minute teaching segments, each targeted at teaching a particular math skill or concept. Colorful video slides emphasize important ideas, alternating with video clips of Mr. D explaining.

Dennis works through sample problems, then assigns problems to your child, reinforcing her grasp of the new concept. A companion workbook (included with each DVD) contains assignment problems, with answers in a separate booklet for you the parent. Your child can re-watch any segment she’s unsure about, reviewing it until mastery level, before moving on to the next new instruction.

Besides receiving the DVDs and workbooks, with each purchase you’ll also get the right to unlimited email consultation with Dennis whenever you have a question, with a 24-hour-turnaround reply time. One reason this program succeeds is because Mr. D genuinely cares about kids, and every child and parent who uses his tutorials. His warmth, humor and friendliness come through in the lessons to keep your child’s learning lighthearted and motivating. His availability to you for email consultation means any questions you have are always taken seriously and addressed.

With Mr. D as your tutor, you’ll have a math professional in your corner – just what a parent needs for their child to succeed and for you to feel confident in your homeschooling. And Mr. D is not just any math professional. Not only do students and parents rave about him – so do the principals he’s taught under:

"Mr. D worked for me as a middle school math teacher.  He worked with gifted students as well as an at risk group of students.  His job with the at risk group of students was to prepare for the Florida FCAT test.  Mr. D used his unique test taking skills practice and development and the results were amazing.  82% of the students in his class raised their FCAT one full point or higher.  I have not seen any teacher be able to do that in my 20 year career.  Parents, I highly recommend the Mr D Math DVD series as I am confident it will make a difference for your child."

John Weida - Assistant Principal - Sarasota County Schools, Florida

"As the Principal in the high school where Mr. D taught Math I had opportunity to observe him on numerous occasions. The majority of his students were below grade level and were struggling in Math. Through his innovative and motivational approach, his students demonstrated learning gains that I did not think were possible. He is to be commended for his successes with the low achieving students.
