If it had not been
for the style and approach of Mr. D's program, my son would not have passed the
GED test. When he began the GED program at his school, he was not able to work
a long division problem and could not add or subtract complex fractions.
After work with Mr. D., Cass was able to say to me, "I am going to pass
this test." even though I still had my doubts. I should have been
more confident, because my son did pass the test on the first try. Lisa F – Parent
Math has always
been a struggle for Matthew, so when I found out about Mr. D I thought I would
give it a try. In just a few months time
he went from struggling adding one digit numbers to multiplying two digit
numbers and even doing some word problems. He has really pulled the strengths
out in Matthew by using Cuisenaire blocks and other resources which has helped
him to jump 1 full grade level when he was tested. Each week Mr. D takes time
at the end of each session to have Matthew show me the skills he learned that
day. This has helped to boost his self-esteem so as a parent I can praise him
for what he is learning instead of getting frustrated with what I don’t think
he is getting. Then Mr. D shows me what I can work on with him over the next
week. Mr. D covers it all. He has also
helped my daughter in high school to understand her Algebra if she ever had
questions. Mr. D definitely knows what he is doing from elementary through high
school and does it well. Cynthia S – Parent
We are so happy
with the progress you made with Alex. He speaks of math with a
fondness that he never had before. He was always afraid to look at
numbers, figuring that it would be too difficult to understand. Now he
seems up for the challenge. Thank you for giving him confidence in his
ability to do something he thought was impossible.
Secondly, Alex's
skill in problems with fractions has greatly improved as well as
factoring. It's great to see him look at the math problem and
get right to it as opposed to staring blankly at the page. I really feel
that you got him interested in math again. He actually likes to practice
what he knows. Maggie
